TASTE THE DIFFERENCE WITH CARTER COUNTRY MEATS

Grass-fed beef is 20% lower in calories than grain-fed beef. Grass-fed beef is also some of the most nutrient-dense, which tends to be tastier. Has a high level of Omega-3 fatty acids, metabolites and phytonutrients.

To begin with, Carter started with grain-fed beef and as he learned about the connection between restaurants and food, he transitioned their corn-finished beef operation to the more regenerative, grass-finished model. No more “chemicals” to make plants grow, he focused on natural solutions.

Our knowledge of cattle and the vast grasslands they roam was instilled by our forefathers. With this in mind, bucking the trend by investing in nature’s lessons, we only harvest older animals of 4 to 14 years of age. Like a fine wine, our beef gets better with age.

Grass-fed is NOT the same as Grass-fed & finished

Buying grass-fed labeled beef in the stores does NOT mean it is nutrient-dense and healthy!

Grass-fed beef characterize beef cattle that ate grass at the start of their being. Actually, grass-finished beef characterizes cattle that eat only grass during their entire lives.

“Grass-fed beef, however, may label meat from cattle that begin on a grass diet, but either receive supplemental grain feed or are finished on a fully grain-based diet.  In fact, the USDA has no requirement for cattle to be fully grass-fed in order to get the “grass-fed” label on your meat’s packaging.

And get this, “grass-fed” cows are not necessarily pasture raised. For this reason, corporate agriculture in the United States currently allows commercial feedlots to confine cattle to pens that house between 100 – 125 animals and allow 125 – 250 square feet per animal.
